January Game Day Report

We played three games:

1.  Terraforming Mars with the Prelude expansion.  Rick had never played, and everyone else was rusty, so we kept it simple.  It seemed like everyone enjoyed themselves and I am convinced that the Prelude expansion (that adds cards but actually shrinks the time to play) is a mandatory addition.  I’d like to play it again before we get rusty again.

2.  Machi Koro with the Harbor expansion.  This game elicited a wide range of reactions - from “never again” to “good game.”  The Harbor expansion definitely changes things from the base game.  Some feel that the improvement is significant, others claim the opposite.  Either way, one can certainly see the design evolution that resulted in Space Base.

3.  Three of us finished up the day with “Welcome to…”  It is a “flip and write” multi-player solitaire game.  I think everyone felt it was pleasant enough, but more play is probably warranted.  The learning curve isn’t long, but it’s steeper than most “roll and write” games.

And that is it.
