Today was a very full day! We started out running trains in the yard and then played co-op games.
Although I had done various test runs, today was the first “serious” exercise of the trains since winter. We had two trains running - one delivering cars and another gathering other cars up. Overall I think there were fewer and less serious “opportunities” than last year, but I definitely still have some work to do. A number of switches need have their points filed/polished and some of the couplers have issues to address.
The first game played was Mechs vs. Minions, mission #2. I sat out, but couldn’t resist “helping” at times. It was a nail biter. A loss was at hand until Jess pulled out one of her character cards to save the day, and then it looked bleak again but a must-roll-yellow on the rune die landed on yellow. Almost every minion in the box was on the board at the end, but a victory was achieved.
The second game played was Flash Point: Fire Rescue. We started out with a huge fire in the kitchen in the middle of the board. It didn’t look very good at first, but we chipped away at the fire. We did a lot of crew changes and managed to get the requisite 7 rescues before the building collapsed.
After all that fun we were all pooped and called it a day.
As is our usual habit, there will be no formal game day scheduled for August. The next game day is scheduled for 9/16. This will be a “themeless” month - we’ll nominate games and then vote on them, with no restriction as to theme. I will call for nominations in late August or early September.
Also a reminder that the annual Aquasox baseball game gathering is on 8/27.
