The high point of the gaming session today was not what we played, but rather it was having Mark with us again. As most of you know, Mark was one of the original founding members of the group - 30+ years ago! As our honored guest, we appointed him despot for a day and let him decide what we would play. Of course, being a person of good taste, he chose well.
We played 7 Wonders, Dominion, Pandemic, Martian Dice and two games of King of Tokyo.
As is my usual habit, I don't report on who wins what, but I will report that we managed to squeak out a win in Pandemic (normal level) with only two turns to spare. I certainly found that I was rusty and had to work at remembering some of the fancy movement tricks.
King of Tokyo is a king of the mountain die rolling contest with a B-movie theme. It doesn't have a lot of depth, but it's short and fun - and there is a lot of humor built into it. I suspect the expansion for it will be picking my pocket soon.
As a reminder, there is no game day in August. Some of the group will be attending Dragonflight - I hope you all have fun. I will probably try to put together an on-line Monday session if things don't get too busy. We will restart game days in September. It is possible that Mark may still be in town and could join us. For planning purposes, the tentative date is 9/14 and the theme of the day will be co-op games.
