This month was very simple. Alex picked Sid Meier's Civilization as the first game of the day and in the end that's all we did. Even those who have played the game were still learning it, and two of us had never seen it before. And the new expansion for 5 was new to everyone and added more moving parts to a game that already has a lot to begin with. If you like bits, this is your game!
Although there was a definite winner based on the rules, it was very close. As one player noted, if anyone hadn't made a lot of mistakes they could have probably won one or two turns earlier.
So we anticipate that next time it will go much faster - and with fewer miscues.
The next game day is scheduled for 3/17. It is possible that Gerry will be able to join us for part of the day. Based on comments today there may be some of you not able to be there. So please check your schedules and let me know if you will be available that day or not. For now, 3/17 is the date, but depending on the feedback we may adjust and/or look at two smaller sessions.
The theme for March will be new games (brought forward from January) and super fillers (if there is any time - doubtful). Right now Core Worlds will be number one on the list, with Quarriors, Airlines Europe and Snow Tails on the list as well - and any other new games you would like to nominate that I have forgotten.
Snacks in March are assigned to Alex.
Probably nobody but me cares, but I am going to make a change to the "out" rules for on-line play. We have grown to the point that what to do when the picker is on the top of the out list really doesn't work anymore.
